Damian & Niomi- Engagement

When I found out that Damian, a good friend of ours was getting married to his sweet girlfriend (now fiancee!) Niomi, I was so super excited to hear the news! Damian has been a dear friend to us for many years and he was a groomsman on our big day- so when I found out they were about to tie the knot- I immediately offered to take some engagement shots for these two lovebirds.

As you can see, they are so adorable together. I've known Damian for a while and he always brings a smile to my face with his funny expressions and silly jokes that have lasted the test of time!   Niomi is the perfect balance to Damian and I'm so incredibly happy for them.  Plus, they make great models for a photo session!

Damian & Niomi- I'm so happy for you guys and I'm really looking forward to the wedding!

Welcome, Autumn

Autumn is one of my most favorite times of the year. I love cool, crisp fall days where I can open the windows and let fresh air take over my house. I love the smell of pumpkin and just fallen leaves matted with morning moisture. I love the sound of whistles and announcements over the loudspeaker at high school football games. Being from Louisiana, I crave the simple fall nuances that those up north often take for granted- apple picking, hayrides, and fall foliage are all things we don't really get here in the south. We do our best with pumpkin patches, spiced drinks, and "gumbo weather" and relish every minute of it.

There is just something so soothing, though, about laying in a pile of leaves and looking up to see the sun peek through a web of fiery gold & red.

And there is something so incredibly fun about spending a crisp Sunday afternoon wandering around an apple orchard or pumpkin patch.

Or perhaps even a corn maze.

Let's also not forget Halloween, one of my most favorite holidays- when at Eastern State Penitentiary- I saw the gargoyles-  This guy looked like he was always looking at me- no matter what.  Isn't it creepy?

There's no denying it, though. Autumn is here, and I'm really happy about it.

Lola

A little over a month ago, I got to shoot some more pictures of the adorable little miss Lola at City Park. Since I last saw her, she's grown up so much and her personality is really starting to shine.

Lola always makes me chuckle because she's really just a jolly little girl. It's easy to make her smile these days!

Of course, she was the star of the show, but Mom & Dad got in on some of the action, too.

Look at those pretty brown eyes! And her lashes! She definitely can bring smiles to anyone's face and joy to their hearts!

Thanks again Jena, Andrea & Lola! It was great to see ya'll again!

Lesley- 2 Years

I have been taking Lesley's photos since she was about 5 months old. Her mom, Jen, and I go wayyyyy back- I'm talking grade school! We were in the same Brownie troop back in the 80's! (we were even on Popeye & Pals!) Jen has always been so supportive of my photography journey and she gave me my start. So thanks Jen!
Lesley always makes me laugh, but now that she's older, the laughs are constant on a photo session with her. This time she was cracking me up with her comments on nutria at the park and how they smelled.

I think this last pic is my favorite. I just love the little face she is making when she sniffed the crepe myrtle flowers. I think she said something along like "why don't these flowers smell?"

Thanks again Jen, Cary and Lesley! I'll see you guys soon!

Ashley & Michael Got Married!

When my friend Janie told me her daughter (and my friend, too!) Ashley was getting married I was so excited! Janie is a doll, and Ashley is a mirror image of her mom- both in looks and in personality. I knew that this wedding was going to be quite a party!

While weddings are are not my strong suit, I just had to shoot a few pictures for Ashley and Michael because I adore them and thought it would make a great wedding gift.

These are just a few of my favorites.

First of all, I need to address her nephew, Colin. The last time I saw this little guy, he was sort of quiet and I think he was about 3 or 4. Now he's quite the personality and so grown up!

When I saw Ashley's gorgeous blue Kate Spade heels (they are my favorite color!) I knew this wedding would be a great one.

Ahhh the kiss! These two are so in love!

When I had asked Janie and Ashley about the wedding colors- Ashley told me they were "dessert" - Raspberry, Chocolate and Caramel. The flowers and decor all reflected those colors and it worked so well together! (it also made me hungry the whole time!)

I couldn't help but jump into a picture with two of my favorite ladies! Ashley, next time you're in town, we need to get together again! :)

And of course, what would a New Orleans wedding be without a Second Line?

Ashley & Michael- Congratulations, I'm so happy for ya'll and I know that you will have a lifetime of love and memories!
